Started her classical and contemporary dance studies with Neilma Williams (1975), continuing at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation Ballet and later at the Rosella Hightower Dance Center (France). She danced with the Gulbenkian Ballet from 1982 to 2002, the last ten years as leading dancer. Paula worked with Jan Fabre at the Frankfurt Ballet and Benjamin Harkavy, Kazuko Hirabaiashi, Maggie Black and Merce Cunningham in New York. With the Ballet Gulbenkian danced works by Mats Ek, Ohad Naharin, Nacho Duato, Luis Falco, Christopher Bruce, Jirí Kylian, Itzik Galili, Hans Van Manen, Mauro Bigonzetti, Rui Horta, Olga Roriz, Paulo Ribeiro, Benvindo Fonseca, among others. Since 2004 she develops regular work in the design and production of live performances, artistic residencies (2012-2019), training and corporate events, working with multidisciplinary teams through the Compota project.
