Claudia Caires Sousa

Journalist

Cláudia Caires Sousa (Funchal, April 13, 1993) holds a degree in Communication Sciences, specializing in Journalism, from the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences at NOVA University Lisbon (2012–2015).
 
She began her career as a journalist at JM-Madeira, where she worked from 2015 to 2017, standing out in the Culture sector and regularly collaborating with the magazine Açúcar, as well as developing work in the areas of Regional and Political reporting.
 
In 2017, she moved to Brussels under the Odisseia Mobility Program, where she completed an internship in Strategic Communication, focusing on social media management, content production, and event organization. The following year, she joined AmCham (American Chamber of Commerce in Brussels), where she worked in communication and events.
 
In 2020, she was invited by the then-President of the Funchal City Council, Miguel Silva Gouveia, to coordinate the news portal funchal.pt, and was also responsible for drafting press releases and institutional content.
 
Between 2021 and 2024, she was part of the technology company ACIN, where she coordinated the communication department, including managing the website, social media, newsletters, institutional press releases, webinars, and editorial review.
 
With over a decade of professional experience, she has also been a journalist and content producer for the magazine Essential Madeira Islands since 2022, responsible for topic selection, conducting interviews, coordinating photoshoots, and writing articles.
 
Since 2025, she has been working at Dançando com a Diferença, at the invitation of Artistic Director Henrique Amoedo, where she serves as Communication Technician.

Dançando com a Diferença (DcD) is a professional contemporary dance company based in Portugal, recognized for its artistic innovation, technical excellence, and promotion of bodily diversity.
 
Since its founding in Madeira in 2001, the company has emphasized the importance of Non-Normative Bodies/Dissident Bodies on national and international stages. It promotes artistic literacy, cultural inclusion, and the personal and professional development of its performers.
 
Under the artistic direction of Henrique Amoedo, DcD combines artistic creation, research, and educational action. It develops structured projects with social and cultural impact in Portugal and abroad, aiming to reinforce social cohesion, intergenerational dialogue, and the democratization of access to art.
